India Inches from History, But England Strikes Back – T20 Series Turns into a Thriller
India vs England Women’s T20I: England Fights Back as India Eyes Historic Series Win
July 5, 2025 – Khabridose Sports Desk
The India vs England women’s T20I series is heating up fast! After a dominant start by Team India, England roared back to life with a nail-biting 5-run win in the third T20I at The Oval, keeping the five-match series alive at 2–1.
Batting first, England posted 171/9 thanks to a sensational 75 by Sophia Dunkley and a classy 66 from Danni Wyatt-Hodge. India’s bowlers managed to pull things back late, but the damage was done. In reply, India started strong—Smriti Mandhana struck a fluent 50 while Shafali Verma smashed 47, giving India early momentum. But England’s bowlers, led by Lauren Bell and Charlie Dean, held their nerve in the death overs to deny India a clean sweep.
Earlier, India had crushed England in the first two games. In the series opener at Nottingham, Mandhana lit up the stage with a blistering 112 as India won by a record 97 runs—England’s biggest defeat in T20I history. Debutant Shree Charani also impressed with 4 key wickets. In the second T20I at Bristol, India posted another big total powered by Amanjot Kaur (63*) and Jemimah Rodrigues (63), securing a 24-run win.
Now all eyes are on the fourth T20I, scheduled for July 9 in Manchester. A win here would give India their first-ever women’s T20I series win in England—a historic achievement. For England, it’s a chance to level the series and set up a fiery decider in Birmingham on July 12.
With star performers on both sides and momentum swinging wildly, the remaining matches promise edge-of-the-seat action. Can Mandhana and Harmanpreet’s squad seal the deal, or will Tammy Beaumont’s England force a grand finale?
