Greater Noida Gym Trainer Arrested for Allegedly Molesting 17-Year-Old in High-Rise Society

Greater Noida | July 7, 2025 — A 30-year-old gym trainer has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in a high-rise residential complex located in Bisrakh, Greater Noida West, police said on Sunday

The accused, identified as Manoj Kumar, a resident of Sorkha village in Noida Sector 116, had been employed at the condo gym for approximately four months . The victim, a resident of the same society, had started training at the gym around three weeks ago.

The incident occurred around 9 am on Saturday, when the teenager entered the gym washroom for a post-workout stretch. Kumar followed her, locked the door, and allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately under the pretext of aiding her stretching . The minor raised an alarm and escaped, alerting gym-goers who helped her notify her parents.

Local police from Bisrakh Police Station quickly responded. Upon interrogation, Kumar allegedly defended his actions, claiming he entered the washroom to assist her stretch because the gym was crowded .

An FIR has been registered under Section 74 (Assault or criminal force to outrage modesty) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act . Kumar was arrested and sent to judicial custody on Saturday night .

Police officials are now reviewing CCTV footage and seeking eyewitness accounts. They are also verifying the society’s staff hiring protocols, particularly background checks, amid calls from residents for stricter screening and robust security measures at gated communities .
